MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure efficient public service delivery, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Multan intensified its sewerage cleaning operations across the city ahead of the monsoon season and Muharram-ul-Haram.

Managing Director Wasa Faisal Shaukat ordered emergency operations for the cleaning of sewerage lines and drains to ensure smooth drainage and facilitate Muharram processions.

The sewerage cleaning campaign has been further accelerated in areas including Writers Colony, Masoom Shah Road, Hafiz Jamal Road and adjoining localities to provide relief to residents.

A special emergency operation was carried out at Daulat Gate Chowk, where modern machinery was utilized to clean a 54-inch diameter manhole. The Managing Director personally monitored the operation throughout the night.

Meanwhile, cleaning work through winching machines remained underway in fish market Chowk, Shaheenabad and Masoom Shah Road. During desilting activities, large quantities of garbage, plastic bags and other waste material were removed from trunk sewerage lines.

Performance reports regarding the cleaning of Muharram procession routes have been sought from concerned officials by the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Comprehensive cleaning operations are also underway in Suraj Miani Wadda Thallah, Sutri Watt Astana Allah Bakhsh, Tareen Colony, Kashif Colony and Shaheenabad, where dozens of manholes have been cleaned.
