Shafqat Shah condemns killing of Hindu trader in Sukkur

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Senior political and social leader Advocate Syed Shafqat Ali Shah has strongly condemned the tragic killing of Hindu trader Dewan Vishal Kumar in Sukkur and expressed deep sorrow and condolences with the bereaved family and leaders of the Hindu community.

According to a spokesperson, Syed Shafqat Ali Shah, in his statement on Friday, said that the painful incident had once again shaken the city of Sukkur, increasing the sense of insecurity not only among the Hindu community but among all citizens.

He said the ruthless firing by unidentified armed men at Al-Shahbaz Traders, a battery shop located near Sikku Talab on Sukkur Shikarpur Road in the limits of A Section Police Station, one of the busiest areas of the city, raised serious questions over the enforcement of law.

In his statement, he further said that the owner of the shop, Dewan Vishal Kumar was critically injured in the firing and was immediately shifted to the hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries and lost his battle for life. Expressing grief, he said the incident also raised a major question mark over the performance of the concerned institutions.

Syed Shafqat Ali Shah said that on one hand, Sukkur Police were making claims of improved law and order, while on the other, incidents of murder, robbery, and theft were increasing day by day in the city, causing the Hindu business community in particular to feel unsafe. He said such incidents were spreading fear and unrest among citizens, which was an extremely alarming situation.

He questioned when the residents of Sukkur, especially traders and minority communities, would be safe from such brazen criminal activities.

He demanded that the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies immediately arrest the suspects involved in the incident, award them exemplary punishment and take urgent and effective measures to improve the law and order situation in the city.

He said the incident was not only an irreparable loss for a family but also posed a major question over the overall peace of Sukkur, which required serious attention from the high authorities.
