ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Senator Sherry Rehman paid tribute to Pakistan’s military services and its leader, on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, calling it a defining moment in Pakistan’s contemporary military history and a milestone that reinforced the country’s confidence, deterrence posture and commitment to peace.

In her statement, Senator Rehman said, “As we mark the first anniversary of Marka e Haq this week, a grateful nation salutes its military heroes across all services for their outstanding excellence in protecting our country and its sovereign borders from naked aggression.

She further added, “Operation Bunyanul Marsoos will be remembered for the bonfire of many IAF jets, but also of Indian strategic vanities. In that one year, Pakistan has not only moved into another role as a strategic stabiliser, but has also gained the confidence of competing actors and powers in a world defined by conflict, disruption and disorder. There is no other example of such strategic maturity right now where one country is able to navigate exemplary milestones of both war and peace in the space of one year.”

“Marka-e-Haq was not only a military success. It was a demonstration of national resolve, institutional maturity and operational excellence. Pakistan showed the world that strength lies not in reckless escalation, but in calibrated and responsible deterrence,” she said.

Senator Rehman said the Pakistan Air Force played a pivotal role during the conflict, displaying exceptional professionalism, technological preparedness and operational agility in an evolving battlespace shaped by multi-domain warfare, cyber integration, electronic warfare and real-time intelligence coordination.

“The Pakistan Air Force proved itself to be a future-ready force capable of integrating cutting-edge technologies, precision systems and coordinated operational doctrines in defence of the homeland. The professionalism displayed by PAF personnel during Marka-e-Haq renewed national pride and reaffirmed confidence in Pakistan’s defensive capabilities,” she added.

She noted that Pakistan’s response during the 87-hour conflict reflected a deeply responsible strategic culture rooted in deterrence stability and regional peace.

“For three days Pakistan exercised restraint despite civilian casualties and infrastructural damage. When the response came, it was deliberate, disciplined and precise. Pakistan did not pursue escalation for spectacle or rhetoric. It prioritized strategic signalling, survivability and controlled retaliation over impulsive tit-for-tat escalation,” Senator Rehman stated.

Highlighting the importance of Pakistan’s Full Spectrum Deterrence doctrine, Senator Rehman said the country’s security framework continues to evolve in response to changing regional dynamics and emerging technologies.

“Pakistan’s deterrence doctrine is comprehensive and adaptive. It covers conventional, tactical and strategic dimensions to deter conflict at every level. Marka-e-Haq validated Pakistan’s ability to maintain escalation control while defending its sovereignty with credibility and resolve,” she said.

Senator Rehman also warned against rising instability in South Asia and emphasized the urgent need for dialogue, strategic restraint and conflict prevention in a nuclearized region.

“Pakistan remains a peace-loving country. Its Armed Forces embody a mature strategic culture focused on preserving stability and preventing conflict. However, peace should never be mistaken for weakness. Any aggression imposed upon Pakistan will continue to be met with a decisive and proportionate response,” she said.

She further commended the officers, pilots and personnel of the Pakistan Air Force and all branches of the Armed Forces for their sacrifice, vigilance and unwavering dedication.

“The nation salutes every individual who stood in defence of Pakistan’s airspace and sovereignty during Marka-e-Haq.

Their courage, discipline and professionalism have become part of the nation’s collective memory and a source of enduring pride for future generations,” Senator Rehman said.

She concluded by saying that the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq should serve not only as a commemoration of military excellence, but also as a reminder of the importance of unity, preparedness and responsible statecraft in an increasingly volatile global environment.
