SHO among 3 cops booked over corruption, misuse of authority

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2026) In a major crackdown on corruption within the Police Department, a case has been registered against Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadr Mian Channu, Muhammad Waqar, along with two constables, on charges of misuse of authority and embezzlement in recovery proceedings.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid reaffirmed a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption and abuse of power, stating that accountability within the police force is being ensured without discrimination.

According to official sources, SHO Muhammad Waqar has been immediately arrested and taken into custody. Simultaneously, both departmental and legal proceedings have been initiated over allegations of misappropriation during recovery operations.

The DPO further stated that the investigation is being conducted on merit, with senior officers assigned to lead a transparent inquiry. Efforts are underway to gather additional evidence, and the scope of the investigation has been expanded to ensure no aspect is overlooked.

Authorities confirmed that the constables involved will also be brought before the law soon, while more arrests are expected as the probe progresses.

Stressing accountability, DPO Muhammad Abid made it clear that no police officer or official is above the law. He added that the process of internal accountability has been accelerated, and the net is tightening around corrupt elements within the department.
