KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) conducted an official visit to the Edhi Child Home to inspect the living conditions of children residing at the facility, assess their well-being, and evaluate the standard of care being provided to them.

The visit assumed particular urgency in the wake of a video that recently surfaced online, recorded inside a facility linked to the Edhi Foundation. The footage, which has since gone viral, features an individual alleging that children at the shelter are being mistreated and left in distress.

During the visit, the SHRC members including PPP MPA Barrister Shiraz Shaukat Rajpar, Barrister Rida Tahir, Sophia Moosani and team of senior doctors inspected key areas of the facility, including the schools, sanitation and hygiene areas, kitchen facilities, play areas, and medical rooms.

The delegation thoroughly reviewed the arrangements made for the children and found the overall environment to be stable and functional.

During the inspector it was found that some children were suffering from the highly contagious disease scabies. SHRC team also held interactions with staff to assess their competence and training in child-care management.

Barrister Rida Tahir observed that the children appeared comfortable, confident, and well-oriented during interactions. She noted that no immediate signs of fear or distress were evident, and that the staff demonstrated a cooperative and responsive approach during the inspection.
