ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has successfully revived the long-stalled M-12 Motorway project, transforming it into a priority infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity and driving regional economic growth.

The project, which will link Sambrial with Kharian, has been made possible through coordinated efforts of the Public-Private Partnership Authority, National Highway Authority and the Ministry of Communications Pakistan.

According to an official post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the M-12 Motorway will serve as a key corridor in Pakistan’s North–South Motorway Network, significantly improving mobility and strengthening regional integration.

The six-lane motorway will connect Sambrial—terminus of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway—with Kharian, facilitating smoother transportation for commuters and boosting trade and industrial linkages in the region.

The project is expected to reduce travel time across key routes while creating new opportunities for economic activity, benefiting local communities and businesses alike.

Officials said the revival of the project reflects the government’s commitment to fast-tracking critical infrastructure under a coordinated framework, with SIFC playing a pivotal role in removing bottlenecks and accelerating implementation.

The M-12 Motorway is also expected to enhance connectivity between industrial hubs and population centers, contributing to sustainable economic development and improved logistics across the country.
