Signal-free project in Rawalpindi to complete at accelerated pace; minister says

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) Provincial Minister for Communications and Works, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath on Monday said the Rawalpindi's signal free project would be completed in record time, citing the vision of Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Chairing a meeting in Rawalpindi, the minister reviewed progress on the project with officials from the Communications and Works Department, Highways, NESPAK and other relevant departments, while officers from across Rawalpindi Division joined via video link.

Officials briefed the meeting that the project comprises two flyovers and three underpasses, with construction work underway in three shifts to accelerate completion.

The project also includes modern remodelling of key intersections, including Kachehri Chowk, Iftikhar Janjua Chowk and Annexe Chowk aimed at easing traffic congestion.

The meeting further reviewed ongoing development schemes across Rawalpindi Division, including Murree, where the minister directed authorities to ensure timely completion of all highway projects.

Expressing satisfaction over the pace and quality of work, the minister said the signal free corridor would help address traffic congestion on a priority basis and provide improved travel facilities to the public.

He said the project would benefit millions of commuters daily and contribute to increased commercial activity in the area.

The minister also directed officials to expedite work on all ongoing development projects, warning that delays would not be tolerated.
