KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) On the 40th anniversary of Khalistan Declaration Day, General Counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on Wednesday reaffirmed the global commitment of Sikh community to the establishment of their separate homeland.
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press club via video link from New York, Pannun said over 1.8 million Sikhs had already voted in the Khalistan Referendum, demanding for the Indian-governed Punjab as independent country.
As a significant next step, he announced SFJ's launch of voter registration of Sikhs living outside Punjab in other states of India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, with participation of eligible Sikh residents only.
The registration will be conducted through Gurdwara Sahibs, beginning from Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana, and expanding to other states, he added.
Pannun said Pro-Khalistan Sikhs reaffirmed their support for Pakistan in any event of future Indian aggression.
He commended Field Marshal General Asim Munir who emerged strong with his exceptional leadership qualities while heading one of the world’s strongest armies.
