ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) A delegation of senior forestry officials from Sindh province here on Wednesday visited a research facility to study modern techniques in rangeland management and livestock production.
The official sources said tha an 11-member team of Range Forest Officers, led by Conservator of Forests Jan Muhammad Soomro, toured the Barani Livestock Production Research Institute (BLPRI) at Kherimurat near Fatehjang as part of efforts to promote sustainable land management and restore degraded landscapes.
During the visit, the experts from the institute briefed the delegation on scientific approaches to rehabilitating arid environments, including dry afforestation and reseeding methods aimed at establishing vegetation in water-scarce areas.
The officials also highlighted initiatives to revive native grass species to control soil erosion and maintain ecological balance.
The delegation was briefed by BLPRI Director Dr. Murtaza Ali Tipu and a team of researchers and veterinary experts and provided technical insights into ongoing projects at the site.
The specialists stressed the need to assess carrying and grazing capacities to ensure sustainable use of rangelands and prevent overgrazing, a key issue affecting dry regions.
