KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The Commissioner of Karachi, Syed Hasan Naqvi stated that the Government of Sindh is actively encouraging the organization of literary, artistic, and cultural activities, as well as poetic symposium (mushaira), within the city.
The Commissioner made these remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Mahmood Khan, the Chief Organizer of the upcoming mushaira, held at his office here. Nadim Zafar, the event organizer, was also present on the occasion.
He noted that this initiative has successfully projected a positive image of Karachi both across Pakistan and on the international stage.
He further emphasized that Karachi should continue to host such literary and cultural events on a sustained basis.
The Commissioner remarked that the International poetic symposium, organized annually by the residents of the City of the Quaid (Karachi), enjoys worldwide renown and serves as a prominent focal point for enthusiasts of urdu literature and poetry.
He praised the commendable efforts of Karachi's citizens in promoting literature and poetry, describing such initiatives as highly valuable and worthy of recognition.
He further assured that the Karachi administration will extend every possible cooperation to ensure the success of the International poetic symposium, as the city authorities regard literary and poetic endeavors with deep appreciation.
Chief Organizer Mahmood Khan briefed the Commissioner on the details of the upcoming International poetic symposium and said the event will be held on March 28 at the Expo Center.
The poetic symposium will feature participation from distinguished poets both from within Pakistan and abroad. Poets from various cities across the country—including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Balochistan—will take part in the event.
Additionally, guest poets from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and other nations will also join this prestigious literary gathering.
