Sindh Govt notifies new closing hours for markets under austerity drive

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) The Sindh Home Department on Friday issued a new notification revising the operating hours for markets, shops and shopping malls across the province under its austerity drive.

According to the handout issued here, markets, shops and shopping malls in all districts except divisional headquarters will close at 8 pm daily, while those in divisional headquarters will shut at 9 pm. The restriction will apply throughout the week, including Saturday and Sunday.

The government has exempted certain essential services from the restriction.

These include tandoors, milk and dairy shops, bakeries, medical stores, pharmacies, medical laboratories, clinics, hospitals and fuel pumps.

Restaurants, hotels and food outlets will remain open from 7pm to 11:30pm, while no restriction has been placed on home delivery services.

In addition, wedding halls, banquets and marriage functions can be held from 8 pm to 12 am.

The notification directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners in the province to ensure strict implementation of the orders in coordination with the police.
