MIRPURKHAS, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Sindh Health and Population Welfare Minister Azra Pechuho on Wednesday underscored the importance of hygiene and preventive healthcare measures during a one-day visit to Mirpurkhas, where she chaired an awareness session aimed at protecting the public from infectious diseases.

Addressing participants at the Commissioner Committee Hall, the minister said providing free treatment and ensuring the best possible medical care for patients remained the foremost responsibility of the health department. She warned that negligence in the delivery of healthcare services would not be tolerated, reiterating the Sindh government’s commitment to improving public health facilities across the province.

During the session, health officials were briefed on infection prevention protocols, including hospital cleanliness, waste management, sanitization, hand hygiene, sterilization of medical equipment and safe patient care practices.

Dr. Pechuho also stressed the need to strengthen immunization efforts for children to protect them against epidemic diseases, while cautioning that the reuse of syringes could lead to the spread of serious illnesses such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV.
