KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Sindh Police won the Ramazan Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament after 30 years, defeating defending champions Hanif Khan XI in a thrilling final played at the Olympian Hanif Khan and Dr. Junaid Ali Shah sports Complex.
The tournament, organised by the Karachi Hockey Association and featured closely contested matches.
The final ended 0–0 in regulation time, while the penalty shootout also failed to produce a winner, leading to a sudden-death decider in which Sindh Police team emerged victorious.
Member National Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza, Olympian Islahuddin, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Munawar Ali Maheser, former PHF Secretary General Haider Hussain and DIGP - Traffic Karachi were among those present on the occasion.
Several Olympians, including Kaleemullah, Iftikhar Syed, Hanif Khan, Ayaz Mahmood, Nasir Ali and Wasim Feroz also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Olympian Islahuddin said organising a hockey event during the holy month of Ramazan was a significant achievement and aimed at discovering new talent at the grassroots level.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Munawar Ali Maheser appreciated the efforts of organisers, saying such initiatives would help revive hockey in the country if replicated by other associations.
Former PHF Secretary General Haider Hussain said hockey academies would soon be established in other districts of Sindh under the patronage of the Sports Department, adding that academies played a key role in revival of the game.
At the end of the final, Syeda Shehla Raza, along with other guests, presented the winning trophy to Sindh Police, while Hanif Khan XI received the runner-up trophy.
On the occasion, DIGP Traffic Karachi also announced a cash award of Rs. 200,000 for the winning team.
