SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Chairperson of the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO), Ms. Naheed Shah Durrani, accompanied by SRSO Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro and Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO) CEO Sahebzada Ghulam Mohyudin, visited the Laban Factory at Village Bhirkan, Taluka Lakhi Ghulam Shah, District Shikarpur on Tuesday.
The factory, which produces flavoured milk, yoghurt, and butter, has been established through the collective efforts of 140 women beneficiaries of the Interest Free Loan (IFL) scheme, organized under the Local Support Organization (LSO) Mehran, UC Bhirkan. SRSO identified the women entrepreneurs, developed a Livelihood Investment Plan (LIP), and provided a Rs. 5 million interest-free enterprise loan, while TVO extended technical assistance for setting up and operating the facility.
During the visit, the delegation observed the complete production line, toured various sections of the factory, and interacted with staff to understand production processes, quality control, packaging, and marketing strategies.
Ms. Durrani expressed keen interest in the quality of the products and emphasized the need for concerted efforts to develop them into a recognized and competitive brand. She stressed the importance of strong branding, improved packaging, and effective marketing for long-term sustainability.
A meeting was also held with members of LSO Mehran, where the SRSO chairperson, CEO SRSO and CEO TVO appreciated the women’s leadership and commitment in establishing and managing the enterprise in a remote rural area. They noted that the initiative not only empowers women economically but also serves as a model for sustainable rural livelihood development.
