Six booked for assaulting Excise team in Multan

Six outlaws attacked the Excise and Taxation department team during a raid against smuggled cigarettes in Multan

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Six outlaws attacked the Excise and Taxation department team during a raid against smuggled cigarettes in Multan.

According to Excise Inspector Rana Sohail Sarwar, they were conducting routine checking at Khatkana Chowk when they seized a quantity of smuggled cigarettes.

During the operation, three persons identified as Oman, Kashif and Shamshad approached the team and demanded to release the confiscated goods.

The inspector said the officials refused to hand over the seized cigarettes and proceeded back toward the office. However, near Gilani House, the outlaws accompanied by three other accomplices, allegedly intercepted the team and attacked them.

During the assault, Constable Mohsin Yousaf’s uniform was torn.

Following the incident, a case was registered at Cantt Police Station Multan under charges of interfering in official matters.
