Slaughter, leather houses relocated on residents' demand

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) In response to persistent complaints from local residents, the district administration has relocated an illegal slaughterhouse and a leather warehouse from a densely populated residential area in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, providing much-needed relief to the community.

According to an administration spokesperson, residents of Mohallah Ghausia Abad near Mazhar Market had repeatedly raised concerns about the severe foul smell and unhygienic conditions caused by the slaughterhouse and leather storage facility operating within the neighborhood. The situation was posing serious environmental and public health risks, causing significant inconvenience to local families.

Taking immediate notice of the complaints, Assistant Commissioner Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, Iqbal Langah, ordered prompt action and ensured the relocation of both facilities outside the residential area.

In addition, sanitation measures were carried out in the locality to improve cleanliness and restore a healthy environment for residents.

Local residents, including Noor Hussain, Ali Muhammad, Muhammad Ashraf and others, expressed their gratitude to the Assistant Commissioner for his swift intervention. They said the timely action had effectively addressed a long-standing issue and significantly reduced the unpleasant odor and environmental concerns in the area.

The residents appreciated the administration's responsiveness and described the move as a major relief for the community.
