Smart lockdown, revises business hours

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) Smart lockdown across the province has been imposed after expiry of the relaxation period, introducing revised restrictions on business operating hours following directions from the federal government.

According to a notification issued by the Federal Cabinet Division on Wednesday, the revised closing timings have been approved in view of longer daylight hours and rising temperatures, with provincial governments directed to implement them accordingly.

Under the new schedule, bazaars, markets and shopping malls will close at 9:00 pm, while marriage halls, marquees and other venues hosting events will shut at 10:00 pm.

Restaurants, hotels, eateries and other food outlets will be allowed to operate till 11:00 pm; however, takeaway and home delivery services will remain exempt from these timings.

Earlier, provincial authorities had restricted markets to 8:00 pm and food outlets to 10:00 pm under smart lockdown measures.

The notification further stated that pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, bakeries, tandoors, milk shops and other essential services would remain exempted from the closing time restrictions. IT companies, call centres and sports facilities have also been exempted.
