LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah, successfully organized a cycling race titled “Get Ready to Ride” to promote health, fitness and environmental awareness among its employees on Saturday.
The event was arranged by the Directorate of sports under the theme “Pedaling for Health, Reducing Stress, and Enhancing Focus.” This initiative reflects the University’s strong commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also the physical and mental well-being of its workforce.
More than 30 employees participated enthusiastically in the race, with 20 cyclists successfully completing the course, demonstrating a spirit of determination and commitment to a healthy, eco-friendly lifestyle.
An award distribution ceremony was held at the Auditorium Hall of Chandka Medical College, Larkana, where the Vice Chancellor awarded brand-new bicycles to the top three performers: Azhar Ali Bhutto (1st position), Roshan Ali Memon (2nd position), and Tanveer Mirani (3rd position). All participants were also awarded medals in recognition of their efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah stated, “This cycling race promotes a culture of healthy activity and positive competition among our employees.
At the same time, through the White Coat Ceremony, we warmly welcome our newly admitted students and encourage them to uphold values of hard work, integrity, and service to humanity in their professional journey.”The prizes were distributed during the White Coat Ceremony held in honor of newly admitted students of the Institute of Pharmacy, Benazir Nursing College, and Larkana College of Medical Technology.
The ceremony was attended by Director Admissions Jibran Zafar Pirzado, Prof. Shahid Hussain Soomro (Principal, Chandka Medical College), Prof Salih Muhammad Channa (Principal GMMC Sukkur) Prof. Ali Hayder Baloch (Principal, Larkana College of Medical Technology), Prof. Waseem Abbas (Director, Institute of Pharmacy), and Prof. Nazir Ahmed Buriro (Principal, Benazir Nursing College), along with faculty members, officers, employees and newly admitted students accompanied by their parents.
The Directorate of Sports also extended its sincere gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Larkana, SSP Larkana and Municipal Commissioner Larkana for their valuable support in ensuring security and maintaining cleanliness along the race route.Through such initiatives, SMBBMU Larkana continues to promote a culture of wellness, responsibility and excellence, paving the way for a healthier and brighter future.
