SNGPL disconnects five meters in Multan anti-theft drive

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) intensified its crackdown against gas theft, illegal usage and technical violations, disconnecting five more meters in Multan,officials said on Saturday.

The Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) Control Task Force carried out operations in various areas to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.During the latest drive,teams inspected 60 locations.

According to officials, three previously removed meters were recovered from consumers, while two meters were disconnected over the use of compressors for illegal gas extraction,a violation of rules.

Officials said the campaign aimed not only to curb gas theft but also to improve pressure,ensure uninterrupted supply and address public complaints.

SNGPL authorities warned that illegal practices adversely affect system performance and pose serious safety risks.

Speaking on the occasion,the General Manager(GM) SNGPL Multan said consumer safety remained the organization’s top priority.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant,check for gas leakages before use and immediately open doors and windows in case of gas smell while avoiding switching on electrical or gas appliances.

He added that indiscriminate action against gas theft and illegal activities would continue to ensure safe,reliable and continuous gas supply.
