SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Jul, 2026) Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan on Sunday stated that the rule of law was supreme in Punjab and no influential person involved in the recent incident involving foreign women in Lahore would be considered above the law.
Addressing traders and media persons at the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here, he said the law would take its own course and indiscriminate action would be taken against those responsible for any violation.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a network of development projects was being laid across the province without any discrimination. He noted that citizens were being provided free travel in air-conditioned buses during the severe heat, while mega projects like ‘Suthra Punjab’ were progressing rapidly.
Malik Ahmad Khan termed corruption a grave issue, adding that effective and stringent measures were indispensable for its eradication. He criticised the past misuse of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) powers, citing the tenure of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as a shameful example, and asserted that no individual should hold unlimited powers.

Earlier, SCCI President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum demanded the establishment of a Women's University in Sargodha, an IT Hub for the youth, and the creation of Industrial Zone Phase-II on government land near Motorway M-2 (92 North).
Sargodha Chamber of commerce and Industry member Taimur Atta Bajwa also suggested diplomatic efforts to reduce US tariffs on Pakistani goods from 19 percent to 10 percent.
The event was attended by SCCI Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Imran, former presidents, and a large number of executive members.
A commemorative shield was presented to the Speaker at the conclusion of the ceremony.
