FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisalabad has launched a special desilting campaign in Chiniot district to ensure improved drainage facilities ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.

According to WASA spokesman, modern digital machinery of WASA Faisalabad has been deployed in various areas of Chiniot for desilting sewerage lines and roadside drains. This campaign would ensure smooth drainage and preventing urban flooding during heavy rains, he added.

He said that the agency is taking special measures not only in Faisalabad but also in adjoining districts to provide quality drainage and sewerage services to citizens.

In accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the desilting of sewerage lines in Chiniot would be completed before the start of monsoon season, he added. He said that heavy machinery of WASA Faisalabad has reached Chiniot and work on desilting drainage lines and roadside drains has been started in different localities of the district.

The operation includes the use of advanced machinery to remove sludge, waste material and blockages from sewerage infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted flow of rainwater, he added.

He said that a comprehensive cleaning drive of wet wells at disposal stations in Chiniot has also been initiated under the special campaign. Heavy machinery is currently engaged in cleaning operations at various disposal stations to enhance the efficiency of drainage systems, he added.

He expressed confidence that completion of the desilting and cleaning campaign would significantly improve rainwater disposal arrangements during the monsoon season and facilitate timely drainage of accumulated water, thereby providing better civic amenities and relief to the residents of Chiniot.
