Special Masajid's cleanliness drive launched under Clean Punjab programme

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) A special cleanliness operation was carried out in Masajids and their surroundings across Rawalpindi district on Friday under the Punjab government's Clean Programme to provide worshippers with a clean and hygienic environment.

According to RWMC spokesman, the campaign was launched on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and implemented under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), Rana Sajid Safdar.

Sanitation workers cleaned the interior and exterior of Masajids, washed the premises, sprinkled lime and removed waste from surrounding areas before Friday prayers.

Alongside the sanitation campaign, RWMC's communication team conducted an awareness drive on dengue prevention, the importance of cleanliness and the Clean Punjab Citizen Helpline 1139.

Information pamphlets were distributed to worshippers before and after Friday prayers, and Imams were asked to highlight cleanliness as an essential part of Islamic teachings in their sermons.

They were also asked to encourage citizens to keep their homes, streets and Masajids clean, prevent stagnant water and use the 1139 helpline to report sanitation-related complaints.

The spokesman urged citizens to keep their surroundings clean, prevent water from accumulating and contact the 1139 helpline in case of sanitation-related complaints.

The CEO said cleanliness operations and public awareness campaigns would continue under the Clean Punjab Programme to make Rawalpindi a cleaner, greener and healthier city through active public participation.
