ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that a special anti-polio campaign will be conducted from May 18 to 24 in 79 selected districts across Pakistan.
According to NEOC, during the campaign, approximately 19 million children will be administered polio drops to protect them against the virus.
The May campaign is being carried out simultaneously in both Pakistan and Afghanistan as part of coordinated efforts to eliminate polio from the region.
In Punjab, around 6.19 million children will be vaccinated in 10 selected districts. In Sindh, the campaign will target 5.79 million children across 20 districts.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4.61 million children will receive polio drops in 23 districts, while in Balochistan, 1.99 million children will be covered in 25 districts.
Additionally, 450,000 children in Islamabad will be vaccinated during the campaign.
Health authorities emphasized that ensuring a polio-free future for children is a shared national responsibility.
Parents have been urged to fully cooperate with polio teams, open their doors to frontline workers, and make sure their children receive the life-saving polio vaccine.
Officials reiterated that collective efforts and community support are essential to achieving the complete eradication of polio in Pakistan.
