TURBAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) The Kech Spring Festival 2026 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Mir Isa National Park, Turbat, under the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

The opening ceremony, led by Deputy Commissioner Kech Yasir Iqbal Dashti, was attended by a wide array of political leaders, government officials, academics, civil society representatives, and citizens.

The chief guest of the event was former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, who praised the festival as a historic moment for the region.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening Kech’s intellectual and cultural environment, urging the district administration to focus on educational and social development. Dr. Baloch pledged his support for the restoration of public spaces and parks in Turbat, highlighting the role of such initiatives in uplifting communities.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti described the festival as more than just a celebration, calling it “a symbol of collective thought, a vibrant society, and a dynamic nation.” He stressed the importance of sports, culture, environmental awareness, and social harmony in building a healthier society. Dashti also underscored the vital role of women in development, noting that progress is impossible without their active participation.

Civil society leader Altaaz Sakhi commended the deputy commissioner’s efforts, expressing hope that he would continue the legacy of his predecessors in serving the people of Kech.

He welcomed the participation of diverse groups — from political leaders to students — and emphasized the need for investment in both infrastructure and human resource development.

The ceremony also featured a tree-planting campaign, with Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Senator Jan Muhammad Baloidi, Mir Hotman, and other dignitaries joining Deputy Commissioner Dashti in launching the initiative. A flower exhibition was held alongside, drawing admiration from attendees.

The Kech Spring Festival will run from April 28 to May 2, offering a variety of activities including sports competitions, traditional games, drama performances, comedy shows, poetry recitals, and cultural exhibitions. Numerous stalls have been set up, with women entrepreneurs playing a prominent role by showcasing books, food items, and handicrafts.

The festival has been widely hailed as a step toward promoting cultural heritage, fostering community spirit, and encouraging youth engagement in positive activities.
