Sri Lankan High Commissioner visits SIAL

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathene (Retd), High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, paid a visit to the Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL).

He was warmly received by Chairman SIAL Hassan Ali Bhatti, Vice Chairman Waqas Afzal, Members of the board of Directors, and CEO SIAL AVM Tanweer Ashraf Bhatti (Retd).

According to SIAL spokesperson, during the visit, an interactive session was held between the High Commissioner and SIAL's leadership, focusing on matters of mutual interest, regional connectivity, and opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

The High Commissioner was briefed on SIAL's airport operations, cargo handling capabilities, and the potential for establishing a direct air link between Sialkot and Colombo.

Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathene expressed his admiration for Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL), describing it as an exceptional model of private-sector vision and execution that offers valuable lessons for others. The High Commissioner further emphasized his commitment to playing a constructive role in exploring the feasibility of a direct Sialkot–Colombo route, which could strengthen commercial, tourism, and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
