PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) and the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting democratic oversight, institutional strengthening, and strategic communication to counter terrorism in Pakistan.

The agreement was signed at the office of the Speaker of the KP Assembly by Secretary KP Assembly, Syed Wiqar Shah and SSDO Executive Director, Syed Kausar Abbas in the presence of Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati.

Under the agreement, both institutions would collaborate on initiatives related to nutrition governance, migration governance, environmental justice, women empowerment, and child rights across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The MoU also seeks to enhance the capacity of parliamentarians and parliamentary committees through research, advocacy, policy dialogues, legislative support, and technical assistance to promote evidence-based policy making and democratic governance in the province.

A press release said the partnership would facilitate joint policy research, consultative sessions, awareness campaigns, legislative reviews, and capacity-building programmes aimed at addressing security and social development challenges.

Representatives from both institutions stressed the need for stronger cooperation between parliamentary bodies and civil society organizations to promote peace, inclusive development, social protection, and effective legislative oversight in the province.

They expressed hope that the collaboration would improve institutional coordination, support informed decision-making, and contribute to better governance and public policy outcomes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
