SSP directs magistrate to initiate judicial inquiry of death of suspect in police custody

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) A suspect identified as Rasheed Bhatti, who was under arrest in case number 95/2026, reportedly died by alleged suicide inside the lock-up of B-Section Police Station.

Taking strict notice of the incident, SSP Shaheed Benazirabad, Sameer Noor Channa, has written to concerned magistrate under the Code of Criminal Procedure to initiate a judicial inquiry. The investigation process is currently underway.

Meanwhile, to ensure transparency, DIGP Shaheed Benazirabad Range, Faisal Bashir Memon, has also constituted a high-level departmental inquiry committee.

The committee has been directed to thoroughly examine all aspects of the incident and submit its report at the earliest. Authorities have stated that upholding the rule of law and ensuring transparency remain top priorities, and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found negligent.
