SSP orders strict enforcement of ban at waterways

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) SSP Operations Imran Ahmad Malik has conducted a visit to Canal Road to review enforcement of Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and directed police officers to ensure strict implementation of the ban on bathing in canals, rivers, ponds and other water bodies to prevent accidents and safeguard human lives.

He carried out a detailed inspection of security and surveillance arrangements along the canal and its adjoining areas.

He reviewed the deployment of police personnel, monitoring mechanisms and preventive measures aimed at discouraging people from entering hazardous water locations.

Speaking on the occasion, the SSP Operations said that the prohibition imposed under Section 144 of CrPC on bathing in canals, rivers, ponds and other water bodies remained fully in force and would be implemented without exception.

He directed police officers to further strengthen and activate patrolling around canals, distributaries and other sensitive locations to ensure compliance with the restrictions and prevent any untoward incidents.

He said that Primary objective of the ban was to protect precious human lives and reduce the risk of drowning and other water-related accidents particularly during the summer season when large numbers of people were attracted to canals and waterways.

He instructed field officers to ensure strict enforcement of Section 144 and enhance public awareness campaigns regarding the restrictions so that citizens remained fully informed about the dangers associated with swimming in canals and other unsafe water bodies.

The SSP Operations emphasized that police officers should maintain constant vigilance and adopt additional precautionary measures wherever necessary. He directed supervisory officers to continue monitoring of sensitive points and ensure that all safety arrangements remained effective.

He further said that protection of citizens' lives and property and provision of a safe environment were among the foremost responsibilities of the police department. The police would continue taking proactive measures to prevent avoidable tragedies and ensure full compliance with government directives aimed at protecting public safety, he added.

During visit, DSP Sargodha Road Riazuddin, SHO Madina Town Adil Akram, SHO Mansoorabad Tauqeer Akhtar and other police officers accompanied the SSP Operations.
