SSP reviews security arrangements for 7th Muharram procession in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob conducted a detailed visit of 7th Muharram procession route to review security arrangements and ensure comprehensive safety measures ahead of the religious event.

During the visit, he was accompanied by SP Rawal, SDPOs, and SHOs of Rawal Division.

The SSP Operations issued directives to Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure foolproof security arrangements along the procession route.

According to the security plan, all streets and entry points surrounding the procession route will be completely sealed.

The participants will only be allowed to enter the procession after undergoing body searches and security screening through walk-through gates.

Senior police officers will also regularly brief personnel deployed on duty to ensure effective coordination and vigilance throughout the event.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Malik Tariq Mehboob said that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the foremost priority of Rawalpindi Police. He added that all necessary measures are being taken to provide effective security and maintain peace during the Muharram.
