SSP Virk appointed CTO Islamabad; Given additional charge of special branch

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk has been appointed as Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad following approval by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

An ITP official told APP on Friday that a formal notification has been issued regarding the appointment of Muhammad Sarfraz Virk as CTO Islamabad.

He said that SSP Sarfraz Virk would also hold the additional charge of Special Branch.

He said the former CTO, Captain (R) Hamzah Humayun, has proceeded on a mid-career management course.

The official said Muhammad Sarfraz Virk had previously served as SSP Traffic and also remained posted as SP in Islamabad Traffic Police.

He added that his experience in traffic management was expected to further strengthen the performance and efficiency of Islamabad Traffic Police.
