KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) organized the inaugural session of the 4th International Conference on Information Science and Communication Technology, bringing together esteemed scholars, industry leaders, and students to explore the latest advancements in the field of science and technology.
Expressing his views on the conference, Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, underscored that information science and communication technology play a pivotal role in addressing global challenges, enhancing productivity, and fostering collaboration across various sectors.
In his keynote address, renowned scientist Prof Dr Attah-ur-Rehman engaged the audience with his insights on "Science and Technology: Engines for Socio-Economic Development." He highlighted the crucial role of scientific research and technological innovation in driving economic growth and enhancing societal welfare, urging people to break barriers and ask challenging questions to themselves to explore the world with a fresh perspective. Prof Dr Attah-ur-Rehman emphasized that the best computer is our brain, equipped with 86 billion neurons, and urged to look beyond conventional boundaries to discover exciting opportunities.
He pointed out that universities are not merely constructed through buildings but are shaped by the intellect and minds of their faculty. With artificial intelligence making strides in the drug industry and the hardware revolution ushering in quantum computing, higher education is undergoing a significant transformation driven by technology.
Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Prof Dr Afzal Haque, said that the conference serves as a vibrant platform for fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among academicians, researchers, and industry professionals, emphasizing the importance of exploring collaborative efforts in the era of digital transformation.
Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, Prof Dr Tauha Hussain Ali, said that in light of the evolving landscape of education and technology, it is imperative that we prioritize the establishment of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with national universities rather than international institutions.
Earlier, conference chaired, Professor Sadiq Ali Khan, Chairman UBIT, Karachi University, told that 143 papers were submitted among which 32 were selected for the 2-day conference.
