LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) A meeting of the Standing Committee on Agriculture was held on Thursday at the Punjab Assembly under the chairmanship of MPA Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah.

The meeting was specially attended by Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani.

The committee reviewed the possible impact of ongoing regional conflicts on Punjab’s agricultural productivity, food security, and farmers’ interests, said a press release issued here.

The meeting discussed the availability and pricing of fertilizers, the impact of diesel and electricity costs on agricultural operations, food supply chain vulnerabilities, and measures to stabilize agricultural input costs. Members also deliberated on contingency planning, mitigation strategies, and policy interventions to protect local farmers from global market volatility and strengthen food security in Punjab.
