Strict measures vital to eradicate corruption, irregularities in tax collection: Sipra

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said on Thursday that strict measures are vital to eradicate corruption, irregularities in tax collection.

He was chairing a meeting regarding tax recovery from government and semi-government institutions, along with other important revenue matters. He directed the commissioners to ensure the achievement of their monthly targets.

The Chairman emphasized the need to intensify field activities to identify unregistered individuals and businesses across the province. He also directed officers to further strengthen the tax collection system by making it more effective, transparent and fully digital before the commencement of the next fiscal year.

He stated that strict monitoring mechanisms would be implemented to ensure the timely recovery of outstanding dues, adding that all Commissioners must maintain proper follow-up in this regard.

To improve revenue collection and achieve assigned targets, he said, district-level field teams will be constituted and daily performance reports will be obtained from field formations.

The PRA Chairman reiterated that establishing a transparent, fair and efficient tax system across Punjab remains among the government’s top priorities. He stressed that strict measures are essential to eliminate corruption and irregularities in tax payments and revenue collection processes.
