Nations agencies and the government.

According to handout issued here on Wednesday, the World Urban Forum serves as a key global platform where government and local representatives from various countries exchange projects and experiences on sustainable urban development, modern municipal systems, housing, public services, and future smart cities.

During the conference, Syed Kumail Hyder Shah visited the World Expo Centre at Baku Olympic Stadium and the Pakistan Pavilion, where participating countries showcased initiatives on urban development, modern infrastructure, housing, and public welfare projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah said he was pleased to see Punjab government’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing programme presented effectively at the global forum.

He added that under the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, programmes to provide housing facilities to millions had been launched, particularly for those displaced by disasters. “The PPP was the first to rebuild homes for affected people, and the positive impacts are now visible,” he said.

Shah noted that forums like the World Urban Forum provide local representatives an opportunity to learn how modern cities worldwide are managed and how better civic facilities are delivered to citizens, so that such experiences can help improve Pakistan’s cities.

Also present on the occasion were President Local Council Association Balochistan Abid Hussain Lehri, President Local Council Association Punjab Fauzia Khalid, Vice Chairman District Council Sukkur Akhtar Khan Mahar, Focal Person to Sindh Local Government Minister Farhan Ghani, Irfan Ali Daudpoto, and other local government representatives.
