Sukkur Food Authority fines eateries over safety violations

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) On the directives of Provincial Food Minister Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman, the Additional Director Operations Sindh Food Authority Sukkur and Assistant Commissioner Sukkur on Friday inspected the quality of food items at hotels, restaurants, dairy shops, fast food outlets and other establishments using a mobile testing laboratory and took action against those violating SOPs.

Additional Director, Operations, Sindh Food Authority Sukkur Agha Farooq Ahmed and Assistant Commissioner Sukkur Sara Faraz, along with the Sindh Food Authority operations team, conducted surprise raids at various places.

Fines of Rs 50,000 were imposed on Shikarpur Sweets Sukkur, Rs30,000 on Abbasi Sweets, Rs30,000 on Khan Baba Restaurant, Rs10,000 on Rao Dairy, Rs20,000 on Karim Fast Food and Rs20,000 on Aims Fast Food.

The inspection team found violations of food safety standards at the said food units, including the use of substandard cooking oil, failure to maintain clean kitchen conditions, and the presence of MSG. Notices were issued to the owners to improve conditions at the earliest, with a warning that continued violations would lead to stricter legal action under Sindh Food Authority regulations.

The Assistant Commissioner said that hotels operating without a food business license had been directed to obtain the license.
