SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) The Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC) and all three town administrations on Wednesday have launched a special cleanliness operation across the city to provide citizens with a clean, healthy, and improved environment during Eid-ul-Adha, on the directives of Sindh government spokesperson and Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arsalan islam Shaikh.

Mayor Shaikh, accompanied by relevant officials, visited various areas of the city to inspect arrangements for cleaning, fumigation, water and lime sprinkling, and the removal of offal. Later, he briefed the media on the steps taken by the municipal administration.

He said that 132 vehicles, including dumpers, loaders, water bowsers, and other specialized vehicles, along with heavy machinery, have been deployed across the city to maintain cleanliness, ensure timely disposal of offal, and eliminate foul odors during Eid-ul-Adha. An additional 290 sanitary workers have also been assigned to ensure immediate disposal of waste and prevent inconvenience to citizens.

For public convenience and prompt redressal of complaints, 13 facilitation camps have been established at Ghanta Ghar, Globe Chowk, Dua Chowk, New Goth, Soo Fit Road, Numaish Chowk, near the NADRA office, the DC office, and at the offices of all three towns. Focal persons and staff have been posted at these camps to provide timely assistance.

The mayor added that fumigation sprays and water and lime sprinkling are being carried out across the city to control odor and bacteria caused by heat, heatwaves, and sacrificial animal waste.

Special bags for the safe disposal of offal are also being distributed free of charge. Citizens can obtain them from the established camps, various mosques, and UC offices.

He appealed to citizens to place offal in the provided bags instead of dumping it on roads or streets, and to cooperate fully with municipal staff to keep the city clean, beautiful, and free of pollution.

“Improving the city requires practical action from citizens. The mayor alone cannot do it. You all must support us. Making Sukkur clean, green, and vibrant is our shared responsibility,” he said, reiterating that all available resources would be utilized to provide the best municipal services during Eid-ul-Adha.

He further announced that Bachal Amusement Park would be reopened this year with full facilities for public recreation, and 12 new recreational parks would also be opened soon.

He said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to inaugurate the Qureshi Goth overhead bridge and other development projects in January 2027.
