‘Summer Camps’ begin across Punjab schools

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) The School education Department of Punjab on Monday granted permission for the establishment of summer camps in government and private schools across the province during the summer vacation period.

According to an official notification, the camps will be held from June 1 to June 30 and will operate Monday through Thursday from 7am to 10am.No activities will be conducted on Fridays.

The department stated that students from all grades may participate in the camps; however, attendance will remain voluntary and schools must obtain parental consent before enrolling students.

Officials further clarified that private schools are prohibited from charging any additional fees under the pretext of summer camps.

The notification directs school administrations to conduct all activities within classrooms and other indoor spaces, keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions.

Schools have also been instructed to ensure the availability of cold drinking water, sanitation facilities, functioning fans and power backup arrangements.

In a relief for students, the department announced that wearing school uniforms during the camps will not be mandatory. Participants will be allowed to wear weather-appropriate clothing.

The School Education Department warned that strict legal action would be taken against institutions found violating the prescribed guidelines. Officials said the measures have been introduced to facilitate academic engagement during the summer break while ensuring students' health and safety amid high temperatures.
