FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 is rapidly approaching and the tailors across Faisalabad have stopped accepting new stitching orders due to an overwhelming workload which reciprocally prompted many citizens to turn to ready-made garments as the festive shopping season enters its busiest phase.

A survey conducted in various markets of the city revealed that a large number of tailoring shops have displayed “No Booking” notices outside their outlets, indicating that they are no longer accepting fresh orders for Eid dresses.

The tailors say that they are fully occupied with previously booked orders and now they are struggling to complete them before Chand Raat.

The annual rush for stitched clothes traditionally intensifies during the holy month of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak as the families prepare new dresses for Eid celebrations.

However, the growing number of orders in the early weeks of Ramazan has forced many tailors to suspend further bookings to ensure timely delivery of garments already in production.

Zahid Mehmood, a tailor running a small stitching shop in the city, said that his shop had received a large number of orders even before the beginning of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak. “We had to close new bookings because the workload has increased beyond our capacity. Our workers are already working day and night to complete the orders that were booked earlier”, he added.

He said that most tailors are under immense pressure during the final days before Eid as the customers expect their dresses to be delivered before Chand Raat.

“Our craftsmen are working continuously with very little time for rest. Despite the heavy workload, we are trying our best to complete all orders before Eid so that the customers can celebrate Eid festival happily”, he explained.

The suspension of new stitching orders has led to a noticeable increase in the demand for ready-made garments in the markets across Faisalabad.

Many citizens, unable to get their clothes stitched in time, have shifted towards purchasing ready-made dresses available in shopping centers and retail outlets.

In busy commercial areas and local markets, the garment shops offering ready-made clothing for men, women and children, have witnessed a surge in the customers searching for fashionable but affordable Eid outfits.

Javed Ali, who was purchasing children’s clothing in the Jhal Khanwana–Satiana Road market, said that the rising stitching charges and increasing prices of fabric forced him to change his shopping plans. “Tailors have increased stitching rates significantly and cloth prices are already very high. Therefore, I decided to buy ready-made dresses for my children because they are available in good designs at comparatively reasonable prices”, he added.

Several other shoppers expressed similar concerns, stating that inflation has made it difficult for many families to manage Eid expenses this year.

The citizens noted that prices of daily necessities have increased considerably, leaving limited financial space for purchasing new clothes.

Some residents said that due to rising costs, they have decided to celebrate Eid with their existing clothes rather than purchasing new outfits.

They said that economic pressures have compelled many households to prioritize essential expenses over festive shopping.

The retailers dealing in ready-made garments acknowledged that the demand for their products increases significantly whenever tailoring shops stop accepting orders.

Muhammad Akram, a shopkeeper in a local clothing market, said that ready-made garments have become increasingly popular because they provide quick and convenient options during peak shopping days. He said that ready-made clothing manufacturers have also improved designs and quality in recent years, offering a wide variety of styles that appeal to customers of all age groups.

Market analysts believe that the shift towards ready-made garments reflects changing consumer behavior in urban centers where convenience and time-saving options are becoming increasingly important during the busy Eid shopping season.

Despite economic challenges, the markets across Faisalabad continue to witness steady activity as the families finalize their preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr while the tailors are racing against time to complete pending orders and retailers are striving to meet the growing demand for ready-made clothing ahead of the festive occasion.
