FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) Chairman Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi on Thursday

said that Youm-e-Takbeer marked the defining moment in national history when Pakistan

sent a clear and powerful message to the world that it would never compromise on its

defense, sovereignty and national dignity under any circumstances.

In a special statement on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, he said that May 28 was

not merely the anniversary of nuclear explosions but a symbol of national honor, courageous

leadership and Pakistan’s unshakeable resolve to safeguard its territorial integrity.

The historic nuclear tests restored strategic balance in South Asia and elevated Pakistan

as the first nuclear power in the Muslim world, he added.

He said the entire world had fixed its eyes on Pakistan after India conducted five nuclear

tests in 1998, adding that it was at that critical and historic juncture that former prime minister

Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif displayed exceptional courage by rejecting intense international

pressure and responding with six nuclear explosions.

Zahid Qasmi said that thunderous echoes from the mountains of Chagai were not merely

the sounds of explosions but a declaration of the unity, determination, scientific excellence

and national pride of the Pakistani nation, which continued to command respect across the

globe even today.

He said the historic decision made Pakistan’s defense impregnable and conveyed an unmistakable

message to adversaries that Pakistan would never accept any compromise on its security and

sovereignty.

He said that Pakistan demonstrated its nuclear capability not for aggression or domination but

to ensure peace, strategic balance and national security in the region.

The regional situation

had become highly sensitive after India’s nuclear tests in 1998 while Pakistan was also facing

extraordinary international pressure at that time.

However, Nawaz Sharif prioritized national interests over all external pressures and took a historic

decision that transformed Pakistan into the seventh nuclear power of the world and the first atomic

power in the Islamic world, he added.

He said the decision laid a strong foundation for Pakistan’s sovereignty, defense stability and

national prestige. He further said that Youm-e-Takbeer provided the nation with an opportunity

to pay tribute to the unmatched services of Pakistani scientists, engineers, armed forces and

national leadership for strengthening the country’s defense.

Sahibzada Zahid Qasmi said that Youm-e-Takbeer was not only a reminder of the past but also

a symbol of national unity, self-confidence and unwavering commitment to the defense of the homeland.

He said that the day also delivered a strong message to the young generation that when the nation

remained united, leadership demonstrated courage and national interest was placed above everything

else, Pakistan could successfully overcome every challenge.

The entire nation was observing Youm-e-Takbeer with renewed resolve to make every sacrifice

for the defense, integrity, progress and stability of the country and continue collective efforts for

transforming Pakistan into a strong, prosperous and dignified state, he added.
