ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Thursday called for a constructive role from the opposition and warned against any disruption of parliamentary proceedings.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said Parliament has set a positive example by taking a firm stance against disruptions and urged the opposition to adopt a responsible approach in national matters.
He said strict action should be taken against any member who blocks parliamentary business. He added that such members could even be barred from entering Parliament premises and may face criminal proceedings if required.
Referring to Pakistani nationals detained in Somalia, the minister said the government has intensified efforts to secure the release of 10 Pakistanis and expressed hope that they would be recovered soon.
On prison-related matters, he said meetings with inmates are held under established rules and procedures. He urged political leaders to avoid making statements against the country, its institutions, and the system on such issues.
The minister said the PTI founder has been provided medical facilities whenever needed, adding that ensuring timely healthcare for prisoners is the government’s responsibility.
He said all necessary medical assistance has been given as required.
He called on the opposition to improve its conduct and contribute positively to parliamentary work, adding that constructive suggestions would be considered in the federal budget.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The minister also criticised the opposition for creating scenes in the House and using videos for social media projection, saying Parliament is not meant for such activities.
On Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Tariq Fazal said the government is engaged on the issue and stressed the need for dialogue.
He said that 12 seats are reserved for Kashmiri refugees and said the Kashmir issue remains a national priority.
He warned a banned action committee against adopting an extreme stance and urged it to return to negotiations, saying past disputes had also been resolved through dialogue.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to parliamentary supremacy, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of political issues.
Earlier, MNA Nawabzada Jamal Raisani strongly condemned statements seen as undermining national unity, saying all political forces must remain committed to Pakistan’s stability.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also expressed concern, calling certain remarks alarming and unacceptable.
He said no patriotic citizen could make such statements and added that those wishing to seek Afghan citizenship were free to do so, stressing the importance of national loyalty.
MNA Mir Khan Bugti condemned attempts to create divisions between Pashtuns and Baloch communities, calling such rhetoric irresponsible.
He said people of Balochistan remain loyal to Pakistan and urged focus on addressing national challenges, particularly terrorism and peace in the province.
