KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) In a brazen yet futile act, terrorists attacked long-abandoned police posts under the cover of darkness in Kohat on Wednesday, whereas authorities confirmed that the targeted structures had already been vacated months earlier. The dilapidated buildings, no longer in use, sustained damage, however no loss of life or operational setback was reported.
According to police officials, the posts had been deactivated well in advance, with personnel relocated to newly established checkpoints, meanwhile ensuring improved security arrangements. The outdated facilities had become redundant and unusable, and officials stressed that the attack held little strategic significance despite being carried out deliberately.
Authorities firmly linked the incident to frustration among terrorist elements allegedly involved in illegal gold mining, moreover noting that the suspension of such activities had severely disrupted their financial networks.
The perpetrators, facing substantial losses, acted recklessly in an apparent attempt to vent their anger through this destructive move.
District Police Officer Kohat, Shehbaz Elahi, took swift notice of the situation, therefore directing immediate and comprehensive action against those responsible. He unequivocally vowed that the culprits would be brought to justice and dealt with an iron hand. Identification efforts are underway, and security has been further tightened as joint search and combing operations continue actively under a coordinated strategy.
