Eight coaches of the Tezgam Express derailed near Lodhran on Tuesday, triggering a swift rescue response

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) Eight coaches of the Tezgam Express derailed near Lodhran on Tuesday, triggering a swift rescue response.

According to PRO Railways Kaleem, as per initial reports, eight bogies went off the track, of which five overturned while three derailed. The accident reportedly began from the fourth coach behind the engine.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 reached the site promptly and launched relief operations. Minor injuries were reported, and affected passengers were provided first aid on the spot.

No loss of life has been reported so far.

Railway officials, including the Station Master and Assistant Station Master Lodhran, are actively supervising the rescue efforts, while senior authorities of Pakistan Railways are en route to the scene.

Train operations on the affected track have been suspended. Authorities said the cause of the derailment will be determined after a formal investigation.

Restoration work is expected to begin shortly to resume rail traffic.
