Thailand envoy calls on Health Minister discuss cooperation in Health Sector

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday called on the ambassador of Thailand to discuss bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest, particularly in the health sector.

According to Ministry of National Health Services, during the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in healthcare and enhancing joint efforts to improve public health systems. They also discussed ongoing initiatives aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC),

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the government is giving special attention to Primary healthcare and Universal Health Coverage to ensure accessible and affordable medical services for all citizens.

He added that effective strategies are being implemented to further reinforce Universal Health Coverage across the country.

The minister further informed that the Prime Minister’s Health Card has been reintroduced in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, enabling approximately 2.5 million families to access free medical treatment facilities.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector and exploring opportunities for collaboration to strengthen healthcare systems and improve public health outcomes.
