The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday disposed of a petition challenging a ban on the cultivation of tall crops, directing the petitioner to approach the relevant bench
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday disposed of a petition challenging a ban on the cultivation of tall crops, directing the petitioner to approach the relevant bench.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed by JDW Sugar Mills. During the proceedings, Assistant Advocate General Waqas Umar appeared on behalf of the Punjab government, while the petitioner’s counsel argued that Deputy Commissioners of Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan had imposed restrictions on the cultivation of tall crops, specifically sugarcane, adversely affecting stakeholders.
The counsel requested the court to hear the matter at the LHC principal seat in Lahore.
However, the Chief Justice observed that the petitioner should approach the relevant bench. The petitioner’s lawyer contended that separate petitions would otherwise have to be filed before the Multan and Bahawalpur benches.
Subsequently, the court directed that both matters be filed before the Multan Bench, allowing consolidation at the appropriate forum.
The court disposed of the petition with these directions.
