Source say the arrested suspect belong to Narowal, Bahawalpur and Neelum District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
SLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 13rd, 2026) Security agencies in Pakistan have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in espionage activities on behalf of India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing, in a major intelligence-based operation, officials and sources said on Monday.
The security sources said that the arrested suspects were operating from Narowal, Bahawalpur, and Neelum District, Azad Kashmir. They were allegedly engaged in collecting and sharing sensitive information through covert communication channels.
The sources further stated that Pakistan’s security and intelligence agencies remain actively engaged in countering internal and external security threats, and the arrests are part of ongoing counter-espionage efforts.
During initial interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed that they were contacted through social media platforms and lured using “honey-trap” tactics involving women and financial inducements to obtain sensitive information.
Investigators said the suspects also received payments through mobile financial services such as Easypaisa, cryptocurrency wallets, and bank transfers.
Officials added that the accused maintained regular contact with individuals linked to the alleged intelligence network through various social media applications.
Security analysts said hostile intelligence agencies often attempt to exploit civilians through financial incentives and social engineering tactics, including honey-trap operations, to achieve strategic objectives. They noted that similar espionage-related cases have surfaced in the past involving cross-border intelligence activities.
The authorities have urged the citizens to exercise caution while using social media platforms and avoid sharing sensitive information with unknown contacts.
The legal proceedings against the suspects have been initiated under relevant laws.
