Three bus terminals sealed over SOP violations in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Police have launched a special inspection drive at bus stands across the city on the directives of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani to ensure security, monitoring, and enforcement of transport regulations ahead of Eid ul Azha.

According to police, special teams were constituted under the supervision of the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) to inspect bus terminals, including the Pirwadhai General Bus Stand and other stations along Peshawar Road. The teams reviewed monitoring systems in place and issued instructions to police personnel and terminal managers regarding strict compliance with standard operating procedures SOPs.

The CPO stated that detailed records of passengers entering and leaving the city are being maintained at all bus stands.

In addition, video documentation of passengers along with their complete credentials is also being carried out as part of enhanced security measures.

Authorities confirmed that three bus stands were sealed for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs). Action was also taken against overcharging complaints reported during the Eid period.

During the ongoing enforcement drive, 187 individuals were fined, 13 vehicles were impounded, and Rs. 67,000 was returned to passengers who were subjected to overcharging.

The CPO emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens. He added that strict monitoring of bus and wagon stands is being carried out to maintain law and order and provide a secure environment during Eid.
