Three held with 77kg hashish, fake dollars at Daraban checkpost

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The district police have foiled a major smuggling attempt at Daraban Checkpost and arrested three alleged smugglers, recovering more than 77 kilograms of hashish and 470 counterfeit US Dollar notes.

According to police sources, a snap-checking campaign was underway under the supervision of DSP Daraban Circle when police received credible information that a large quantity of hashish was being transported from Quetta-Zhob towards Dera Ismail Khan.

During the blockade at Daraban Checkpost, a black Vigo pickup coming from Quetta-Zhob was intercepted. The driver identified himself as Sajid Ali, a resident of Pindi Bhattian, District Hafizabad, while two passengers seated in the rear identified themselves as Iftikhar Ahmed and Sajid Ali Qureshi, also residents of District Hafizabad.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 84 packets of hashish concealed in hidden compartments. The seized narcotics weighed 77. 968 kilograms. Further inspection led to the recovery of 470 counterfeit US dollar notes in $100 denominations hidden inside the vehicle’s switchboard. All the notes reportedly bore the same serial number.

The police arrested the three suspects on the spot and registered a case against them. Further investigation is underway.
