MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) intensified its crackdown on gas theft,illegal usage and technical violation, disconnecting three more gas meters during operations in Multan on Monday.
According to details,the Utility and Gas Theft (UFG) Control Task Force conducted inspections at 55 locations across different areas of the city to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.
During the enforcement drive,one meter previously removed by consumers was recovered while two meters were disconnected for the illegal use of compressors to obtain gas, in violation of company rules.
SNGPL officials said the ongoing operations aim to curb gas theft, improve system pressure,ensure uninterrupted supply, and address public complaints in an effective manner.
They warned that illegal practices not only disrupt system performance but also pose serious safety risks.
Speaking on the occasion, the SNGPL Multan General Manager said the safety of consumers’ lives and property remains the organization’s top priority.
He urged consumers to remain vigilant and ensure there was no gas leakage before usage, advising that in case of gas smell, doors and windows should be opened immediately and electrical or gas appliances avoided.
He reiterated that indiscriminate action against gas theft and illegal connections will continue to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted gas supply to all consumers.
