Three security officials martyred in IED blast targeting convoy on Indus Highway

BANNU, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) At least three security officials were martyred and three bystanders sustained injuries following an IED blast targeting a security forces vehicle on Indus Highway near Barm Khel area on Saturday.

According to police reports, the convoy was traveling from Peshawar toward Bannu when explosion occurred.

In immediate aftermath, security personnel cordoned off the site to conduct a thorough investigation and search operation.

The attack comes amid ongoing regional tensions, as the Afghan Taliban continues to provide safe havens, logistical support, and operational space for Fitna al Khawarij (TTP) terrorists on Afghan soil. This facilitation has enabled a surge in cross-border terror attacks within Pakistan, resulting in continued casualties among both civilian population and nation's security forces.
