GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) Caretaker Minister for Information and Publications Gilgit-Baltistan Ghulam Abbas on Tuesday said tourism activities in Gilgit-Baltistan would continue in full swing and a completely safe environment was being ensured for tourists despite recent incidents.
Talking to media here, he stated that the government, local administration and security institutions were taking comprehensive measures to facilitate and protect tourists visiting the region.
He added that religious scholars have also demonstrated responsibility by clearly conveying in their messages that there were no restrictions on tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan, and the overall environment remained peaceful.
The minister urged tourists from across the country to visit the region without fear and enjoy its breathtaking mountainous landscapes, scenic beauty, and renowned tourist destinations. He emphasized that both the government and local communities were actively engaged in extending hospitality and providing maximum facilities to visitors.
Ghulam Abbas further said that those who had already planned their summer trips should continue with their travel plans and visit Gilgit-Baltistan with their families. He noted that civil society and religious scholars were fully cooperating to support tourists.
He assured that Gilgit-Baltistan would maintain its status as one of the country’s leading tourist destinations this year as well, and all available resources were being utilized to promote tourism in the region.
The minister also advised that in case of any difficulty, tourists should immediately contact local administration or relevant authorities to receive timely assistance.
He concluded by saying that the tourism industry in Gilgit-Baltistan was rapidly growing and the government was committed to its protection and further development. In this regard, the caretaker Chief Minister has also issued special directives to the concerned departments.
